FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: April 22, 2024

Northumberland County, ON – The Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation is thrilled to announce the resounding success of the much-anticipated Handbags for Hospice 2024 event, which raised an impressive $111,115!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, with special recognition to our esteemed Signature Sponsor, Tony Pulla of Re/Max Lakeshore Realty, and our Pearl Sponsor, Jacqueline Pennington of Re/Max Hallmark First Group Realty. Their steadfast support has been instrumental in achieving this remarkable result.

Co-Chairs Jan Rosamond and Pam Trumper shared, “The success of the April 4th event is a testament to the incredible support we have received from our community. It’s heartwarming to see everyone come together for such a meaningful cause. We are immensely proud of what we have accomplished together as a committee, and we look forward to continuing our work to support hospice care in Northumberland.”

The overwhelming support from our sponsors and the community at large has made this achievement possible. We extend our deepest appreciation to each and every individual who contributed to the success of Handbags for Hospice.

Sherry Gibson, Director of Hospice Services, added, “The generosity displayed at Handbags for Hospice will make a profound difference in the lives of those in need. We are deeply thankful for the continued support of our sponsors, donors, and community members.”

The funds raised will play a vital role in supporting hospice service programs in our community, including the Palliative Care Community Team and Visiting Hospice, in partnership with the 24/7 end-of-life care and support provided at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre, all offered at no cost to hospice clients and their families.

A major factor in the success of the event was our generous donor match from Lynn Hardy. Together with our attendees, Lynn’s matching gift for our Give a Gift from the Heart feature helped raise an incredible $33,832. Support for Give a Gift from the Heart directly supports the compassionate build and completion of the final 4 suites at Ed’s House. Ms. Hardy is Chair of the Ed’s House Foundation with a long history of support and involvement having been part of the original Northumberland Lakeshore Hospice, our Capital Campaign for the build and now is very excited to see the completion of these four additional rooms. We are truly thankful for her continued commitment and dedication.

It was truly wonderful to be back at the Best Western Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre and thank all the staff, particularly Brad and Jessica for their unbelievable support.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support from our sponsors and community. Many thanks also to the Handbags for Hospice Committee who were able to deliver a fun, entertaining and memorable evening for all,” said Trish Baird, CEO of Community Care Northumberland (CCN).

We invite everyone to join us in celebrating this achievement and expressing our gratitude to all sponsors, donors, and supporters. Your generosity has made a profound difference in the lives of those in need.

For those interested in sponsoring future events or making a donation, please contact the Donor Relations office at 905-885-0466.

Once again, we thank the community for your unwavering support and commitment to our cause. Together, we continue to make a meaningful impact in our community.
