Donation in Lieu of Gifts
Many families choose to honour a special event like a birthday, anniversary or wedding by suggesting their guests make a donation to Ed’s House in lieu of gifts. Ed’s House will prepare special occasion cards with the included income tax receipt to acknowledge each gift. You will receive notice of all the gifts received.
Gifts In-Kind
Ed’s House appreciates gifts of in-kind items. If you would like to donate in-kind gifts to Ed’s House, please give us a call at (905) 885-0466.
Gifts of Securities
You can make a smart investment and reduce your taxes by donating shares to Ed’s House Foundation.
Your gift of securities entitles you to a donation receipt for the full market value (resale) of your contribution. Your gift will result in a non-refundable tax credit that will reduce your income taxes. You can use it in the year of your gift or carry it forward for up to five additional years.
You pay no capital gains tax on the appreciated value (increased price) of your securities. Donating securities directly to Ed’s House Foundation avoids the tax on capital gains, maximizes the return on your investment and protects the tax credits for use against other taxable income.
Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre is paired with CIBC Wood Gundy, however this does not mean that you are limited to using only this financial wealth management team – you are more than welcome to always work with the financial institution of your choice.
Planned Giving/Gift In Will

There are many options to consider your support through a bequest, estate plan, annuity, charitable trust, RRSP/RRIFs, real estate and life insurance.
