Community Care Northumberland is pleased to announce the 3rd annual “Handbags for Hospice” for Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre that was held on Thursday April 21, 2022 at the Cobourg Lions Community Centre was a huge success! Although we are still figuring out exact totals, we had a wonderful time being together in-person again and wanted to thank everyone in Northumberland for making it a huge success!  

Handbags for Hospice event brought our community together for an exciting evening of entertainment, delicious food and the chance to bid on a wide selection of handbags and experiences. This night of fun, fashion and friends has become a signature event for many hospices throughout Ontario.

The 3rd Annual Handbags for Hospice event brought back Joel Scott and York Bell-Smith as the Emcees of the evening.

Not only was it a wonderful n in-person event once again, it included a large selection of handbags to bid on, a live and silent auction, and the chance to purchase a Golden ticket to win two tickets anywhere Westjet flies in the world!

The community has once again been so generous with its support with sponsorships and donating items. Our Signature Sponsor for the evening is Tony Pulla of Re-Max Lakeshore Realty.  Our Pearl sponsor  is Jacqueline Pennington of Re/Max Hallmark, Platinum is Quantrill Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac, Acme Electric  and Diamond sponsors include Cameco Corporation, Susan Hull and Erin Brown of Royal Service Real Estate Inc, , SMM Law and Spoolon Manufacturing Limited.  Emerald sponsors included Mitzify Canada and CIBC. Sapphire sponsors being MacCoubrey Funeral Home and Langhorne Irwin Coleman.  Ruby Sponsors included Tina Hubicki, RBC Royal Bank, Dr. Anna Tucka, Palisade Gardens, and Roseglen Village.

Proceeds from this event support resident care at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre located at 1301 Ontario Street, just north of the highway in Hamilton Township.

“I am proud to say that this event has become a signature event in our area and supports the important work that Ed’s House does for our community.   Every year we are challenged with raising close to a million dollars to support the operation of Ed’s House.  This event has a goal to raise $75,000 and thanks to the efforts of the Special Events Committee and the tremendous support of the community we look forward to raising these much-needed funds,” says Trish Baird, Chief Executive Officer, Community Care Northumberland.
