Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre Foundation is excited to share that a group of compassionate local physicians has joined forces to support Ed’s House and Hospice Services. They will be the matching donors for the Give a Gift from the Heart campaign at the 6th Annual Handbags for Hospice event, scheduled for April 10th, 2025, at the Best Western Plus Cobourg Inn & Convention Centre.
Led by Ed’s House Medical Director, Dr. Kate Everdell, this incredible partnership provides a meaningful opportunity to double the impact of every donation made to the Give a Gift from the Heart initiative. This team of local physicians have generously donated $15,000, meaning each donation up to that amount will be matched dollar for dollar, ensuring that supporters’ contributions are doubled to go even further in providing high-quality, compassionate care to individuals and families in need at Ed’s House.
The Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the following Physicians with Heart for their generous commitment as matching donors:

The Handbags for Hospice event promises to be a memorable evening, featuring a silent auction, live auction, golden ticket draws, and other exciting fundraising opportunities. Every
dollar raised will directly benefit the services and operations of Ed’s House, Northumberland’s heart and hub for compassionate hospice care.
A sincere thank you goes out to the generous lead sponsors of the event, including Tony Pulla, our Signature Sponsor, and Jacqueline Pennington of Re/Max Hallmark, our Pearl Sponsor.
The Foundation’s purpose is to raise funds to support the operation of Community Care Northumberland’s hospice service programs in our community including the Palliative Care Community Team, Volunteer Hospice Visiting program, and Grief and Bereavement support which operate alongside the 24/7 end-of-life care provided at Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre. As you may know, Ed’s House has recently undergone a significant expansion, increasing our capacity from a 6-bed to a 10-bed hospice. This expansion allows us to extend our compassionate care to more individuals and families in need during one of the most challenging times in their lives. Through the generosity of our community, our suite of services is offered at no charge to clients and their families.
