ting to the Director, Donor Relations and Communications, the Communications Specialist is responsible for writing, designing and producing content, information and communication materials across multiple platforms to raise awareness about the organization and its mission, vision, values and programs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy that aligns with CCN’s mission, vision, and values.
- Update and maintain CCN’s website and social media platforms (including those for Ed’s House Northumberland Hospice Care Centre) with up-to-date, relevant and engaging content.
- Implement the CCN brand and brand elements and ensure consistency across communication channels.
- Create press releases, media relations content and internal and external newsletters.
- Write, design and produce creative marketing materials to promote the organization’s programs, services and special events.
- Assist with the planning, promotion and successful execution of special events.
- Review and implement feedback to improve and update communications and marketing materials as required.
- Actively participate on internal and/or external committees, project groups, information forums and planning committees.
- Provides expertise, direction and support to management and staff on effective communication techniques.
- Ensures compliance with AODA requirements.
Qualifications:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, English, Public Relations or a related field.
- A minimum of two (2) years of directly related work experience.
- Strong computer literacy with knowledge MS Office, WordPress, graphic design software and database management systems.
- Knowledge of and experience with social media platforms and social media marketing. Experience with video editing an asset.
- Demonstrated strong writing, editing, proof-reading and design skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy with an ability to prioritize, multitask and meet multiple deadlines.
- A passion for CCN, its mission and the not-for-profit sector
- Ability to represent CCN in a professional fashion.
- Proactive, organized and collaborative approach to work; exemplary interpersonal skills; team player who is willing to share and receive information and feedback.
- Valid drivers’ license to travel throughout Northumberland County (as required)
Starting salary range – $22.60 to $27.79
